Help-Me-Park Sign EXCLUSIVE Meet and Greet with Gatwick Hilton Hotel

Gatwick Airport parking provider, Help-Me-Park, has signed an exclusive contract with the Gatwick Hilton Hotel to provide Meet and Greet parking to all the hotel’s customers who book direct with the Hilton by the Hilton website or Hilton telephone reservation team.

This exclusive contract binds the two parties to an annual contract – April 08 – April 09 – whereby Help-Me-Park solely provide the Meet and Greet parking services to the Hilton Hotel’s own branded Meet and Greet Airport Park & Stay services.

This contract is the second to be signed between Help-Me-Park and the Gatwick Hilton Hotel, following a hugely successful first contract, signed for one year running from April 07.

The service shows impressive growth month-on-month, with increases resulting in 50% additional turnover in certain months. Much business is found in repeat bookings, formed on Help-Me-Park’s unsurpassable reliability and trustworthiness and the convenience of Meet and Greet parking.

This exclusive Gatwick Hilton Meet and Greet Service is bookable both directly with the hotel or through the Hilton’s website. The easy to use web booking system confirms the booking by immediate e-mail receipt.

Help-Me-Park report a strong increase in the luxury Gatwick Meet and Greet parking services over the last 3 years by those travellers using Gatwick Airport. Customer research, conducted by the H-M-P customer base, dictates the need for quality service, time saving and hassle free product offering. The environmental impact of Kiss and Fly v airport parking

The media spotlight has long been on the environmental damage caused by flying and the carbon emissions given off by airlines, however, very little focus is placed on the environmental impact of travel to and from the airport.

In an attempt to reduce pollution, carbon emissions and alleviate traffic congestion, airports and travel providers are continually trying to encourage air travellers to use public transport when travelling to and from the airports. Obviously, taking public transport to the airport is the most environmentally friendly way of travelling to the airport, but isn’t always practical.

In recent years we have seen a significant rise in the environmentally unfriendly method of travelling to the airport – Kiss and Fly.

Kiss and fly is the enlisting of friends or family to take passengers to the airport – an innocent method of transportation, or is it?

The process of kiss and fly involves twice as many journeys as that of driving to the airport and parking your own car, as the car needs to travel to the airport twice, once to drop off passengers and then back to pick up passengers on their return.

The impact of kiss and fly is made apparent when you consider Gatwick airport alone, which currently handles 35.1 million passengers per year. In 2005, 27% of air travellers through Gatwick were driven to the airport in cars belonging to friends or family. In fact, in 2005, kiss and fly accounted for four times as many car trips to and from Gatwick than cars in the long-stay car parks!

If all travellers using kiss and fly switched to Gatwick airport parking, this would result in a 50% reduction of road trips leading to reduced congestion on roads surrounding the airport, and a 50% reduction in carbon emissions.

From a convenience point of view, kiss and fly is probably one of the most inconvenient methods of travel too. Due to security measures implemented at the airports, it is no longer possible to be dropped off right outside the airport terminal, as all cars must drive into the short-stay car parks and park before dropping off passengers.

So before you telephone your mate to drive you to the airport, stop, consider convenience and the environment, drive yourself and use a Gatwick airport parking option such as Gatwick meet and greet or long-stay parking.

Expert advice on saving time and money when booking Glasgow Airport parking

Glasgow Airport is the busiest of Scotland's three main international airports. Over 40 Airlines serve around 80 destinations and, in July 2004, it became the first Scottish airport to handle over one million passengers in a month, so it’s hardly surprising that finding the right Glasgow Airport parking to suit your needs can be such a nightmare – time consuming and expensive.

However, the key to finding the right parking for your needs, at the right price, is now divulged for your reading pleasure…

There are various Glasgow Airport parking options available to passengers travelling through the Airport depending on budget, length of stay and level of service required. Determining which Glasgow Airport parking option will best suit your needs is the first step:

Collect / Drop-Off Glasgow Airport Parking
Glasgow short term parking is situated a few metres from the passenger terminal and suitable for stays of up to 5 hours - perfect for collecting or dropping off passengers, or for short trips. Any cars left unattended in the set down or pick up areas, will be towed away by the police and a release fee will be incurred. Therefore, if you need to leave your car unattended, motorists must park in the Glasgow short stay car park.

Short Term Glasgow Airport Parking
Glasgow short term parking is available a few metres from the terminal. The short term car park is perfect for stays of up to 5 days and prices start from £1 for 15 minutes, and £12 for stays of 12-24 hours. Passengers are advised to book in advance to secure a parking place within this Glasgow Airport parking facility.

Business Glasgow Airport Parking
For travellers that need fast access through from parking to the airport can use the Fast Track parking service. Fast Track parking is situated in car park 2, level 2, and payment should be made before returning to your vehicle at the machines on the ground floor and level 2 of the multi-story car park.

Glasgow Long Term Parking
For passengers travelling away for more than a few days, Glasgow long term parking is recommended. There are various different options available for Glasgow Airport parking, and many companies competing for your business. Flightpath NCP operate Glasgow long term parking. There is a minimum 4 day stay if you are pre-booking your parking. The on-site Glasgow long term parking option is served by a shuttle bus that runs every 10 minutes with a journey time of approximately 5 minutes. When using this parking option, passengers should leave at least 25 minutes to get to the Terminal and check-in.

Keep reading for tips on how to make your Glasgow Airport parking decision and get the best price.

Glasgow Secured Car Park
The secure Glasgow Airport parking option runs courtesy transfers 24 hours a day with a journey time of approximately 7 minutes to get to the Terminal. The minimum stay for this parking option is one day. Please note that no oversized vehicles or trailers can access the car park.

Disabled Parking at Glasgow Airport
The blue badge scheme applies to car parks only as due to security reasons, there is no waiting outside the terminal buildings themselves. However, special provision has been made to allow blue badge holders to drop off and pick up on the outer lane of the airport forecourt, just a few steps away from the entrance to the terminal. Designated bays are located either side of the link bridge between Car Park 2 and the main terminal and Help Points are available for passengers in need of assistance.

Should you require assistance from the car park to the terminal building, this should be arranged in advance by phoning Unity on +44 (0)141 848 7568 or email unity@baa.com, allowing at least 48 hours to process the request through the appropriate handler. For further information please call the Glasgow BAA parking information line on 0870 850 2825 (UK) or +44(0)121 410 5105 (from outside the UK). The Minitel number is +44 (0)121 410 5284.

Investigation into high Aussie airport parking charges

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission is to monitor airport parking charges at airports across Australia.

The federal government requested the investigation after it emerged that some Australian airport parking charges were high by international standards, higher in some cases than Heathrow - it's more expensive to park at Melbourne Airport than to use Heathrow airport parking.

In a statement to the press, Federal Transport Minister Anthony Albanese said: "genuine public concerns about airports using their monopoly position to exert significant market power and charge higher prices for the various periods of stay – particularly short-term stays to drop off and pick up passengers."

The revenue generated by Airport parking charges in Australia was the equivalent of US$192 million in 2007.

Bristol airport parking woes

If you are picking up passengers from the airport, it’s worth thinking about where you are going to meet and how long you plan to park for in advance. If you can stay off airport and monitor the flight you should be able to park for the minimum amount of time, or even take advantage of the free drop-off and pick-up zones at some airports.

Check out David Hurst’s blog about how he got caught out by the high costs of using Bristol airport parking when picking up a friend and was charged £30 for three hours’ parking!
